It is such a beautiful morning. Before I reach out to the beaches, here is the recipe for the besan barfi with chocolate I prepared for Janmashtami.
For the besan barfi you will need,
1 cup of besan(chickpea flour)
2 tblsp of ghee
3/4 cup powdered sugar(icing sugar will do)
cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
In a microwave proof bowl, add in the besan and ghee and place it in the microwave for a minute. Bring it out and give it a stir. Place it again in the microwave for a minute again and stir. If the besan seems too dry, add in another tablespoon of ghee. Repeat the microwaving for another minute if needed. The besan will roast and change colour. Do not over roast it or under roast it. Once done, bring it out and cool slightly. To this add the sugar and cardamom powder. Spread and pat the mixture in a greased plate. And set aside.
For the chocolate bit
I used my judgements ..these are to approximate measures..
Milk powder 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar 1/4 cup
2-3 tblsp coco powder(if you have cooking chocolate.that will do wonderfully as it will set properly..my chocolate part is kind of soft)
Double cream 1/2 cup
Cook the milk powder and cream in the microwave. When the mixture starts to swell that is the point when it needs to come out. Cook this mixture with one minute timer and repeat. When cooked, add in the rest of the ingredients and spread this mixture on the besan barfi. Decorate with chopped nuts or anything you fancy.Set in the refridgerater and cut into pieces when set.
